The noisy clamor of taxis and airplanes was briefly replaced at an airport cab waiting area by the exquisite tones of virtuoso Philippe Quint and a 285-year-old violin. Quint is to play for 30 minutes to cabbies at Newark Liberty International Airport as thanks to driver Mohamed Khalil, who last month returned the irreplaceable 1723 Antonio Stradivari “Ex-Keisewetter” after it was left behind in Khalil’s cab. The private solo performance by the Grammy-nominated violinist is the latest accolade for Khalil, who has already been presented with the city’s highest honor, a medallion, by Mayor Cory A. Booker.
