Professional drivers learn survival tactics

Original video By: dberger
Posted on nj.com

Jerry Lucas is an assistant instructor with Tony Scotti’s Vehicle Dynamics Institute. In that role, he plays a “bad guy” who shoots paint balls at the professional drivers as they learn how to survive an attack. Drivers and bodyguards for some of area’s (and the world’s) richest and most powerful men and women get their training at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. That’s where Jersey-based Tony Scotti’s Vehicle Dynamics Institute puts them through their paces on evasive driving, defensive driving, reversing, and braking. That new cell phone you plan to buy this holiday season is being tested now at the Verizon Wireless labs in Bedminster. The $20 million labs, which turn 1 year old this month, experiment with 300 devices and software every year. Engineers use a dummy with $5,000 ears called Mr. Head to check the voice quality of different phones. You can hear him speak a form of scientific gibberish to simulate the human voice.
